Priscilla@HPi'm experiencing a very weird issue with a brand new elitebook 1040 and the thunderbolt docking station. It seems that when docked the screens flicker periodically, i have updated the drivers for the machine and docking station and still get the issue. Even logged a ticket with HP and they sent out a new docking station and the new one also suffers the same issue.
I've got a feeling it's something to do with the power setting son the laptop. The users docks it with the screen in the closed position, i've tested running with the screen in the open popsition and it seems to solve the issue. However the user doesn't want to keep the laptop open when docked.on another note, with the machine docked i can't UNC on to it and for some reason or other it doesn't seem to authenticate against our domain controllers properly, when I try and run a programme as an admin it won't accept my domain admin credentials for example. It's like the docking station does something with the network traffic and causes a break in communication. Being an enterprise type product i would expect this to work in a corporate environment but it looks like there is something untoward going on with it.Have there been any other complaints of similar symptoms? Hey Jon, thanks for the input. Already set the lid option does and still getthe issue.
Going to look at the power options for when the machine is'plugged in' - going to try set this to always on and see if thatmakes any difference.i'm going to test it out on the corporate wifi this afternoon and see ifthat corrects the auth problem. I've got a feeling it will. As i cannot browseit via IP address and it looks like the docking station is on the networkwith a DHCP address but a blank hostname, i'm also going to look and see ifHP has any software that allows management of these docking stations, as theyseem to be doing something a little clever.EDIT - looks like i had a red-herring in my DHCP. I can see the machine in there, with 2 IP's (I assume Wifi and LAN from the dock) will test unc browsing on both IP's and see if that corrects the problem.Edited Feb 13, 2019 at 12:32 UTC. #####Undock the laptop and run these cleaning utilities repeatedly as admin. After that update BIOS and all drivers.
